One of the MAP terms

social organism (MAP term)

See social organism in the Glossary according to which it:

is an AgentSpace that has developed enough internal coherence, governance capacity, and memetic identity to act as an Agent in its own right—a Holon one level up.

I would modify this slightly to read something like:

“When an AgentSpace contains agents that have sufficient internal coherence, governance capacity, and memetic identity, they can be treated as a unified Agent in its own right—a Holon one level up.”

Commentary

aSimonG: This seems to me to confuse the broad idea of a space with the things that are contained in a space and bounded by the space's membrane. To me, the MAP terminology would benefit from a very clear distinction in vocabulary between a space and what is in that space; between a container and what is contained.

However, I also note that we are actually talking about representations in the MAP, rather than the things themselves; and thus the distinction is perhaps less clear.
