Add question to an enquiry (page)

Wireframe: add-question

Here an extra question is added to the enquiry. This may not be a simple process, but it is given here in one page.

Enquirer perspective

My enquiry isn't specific enough. Maybe I have tried it, with many results. Or maybe I have just recognised that I've left out something important that I want. First I will try to describe that want in words, and I will select a question from the list that is returned. If none of them fit, I can add more detail to a request for a new question.

Sequence

Pages that lead here

Enquirer actions and destinations

  • Cancel: link back → Forming enquiry
  • Add text to textbox describing what is wanted (could be speech to text)
  • Select an existing question → Want in enquiry
  • If none seem adequate
    • either go to another page to browse questions in another way (not implemented)
    • or fill in a box with further explanation of what is wanted

Information

Key: EnqID

Information and processing needed to set up the page

Based on processing the MyEQWNote, the system brings up a list of potentially relevant questions.

If this page was reached with a particular QID, and that question has sub-questions that are dependent on it, then the questions listed are just those that follow on from the earlier question.

Information input and stored/passed on

Implementation notes

This depends on the method offered to the user. The most ambitious would be to take whatever words are entered and use an AI process to come up with the most likely existing questions relating to those words. Less ambitious would be to use keywords to do the same thing.

How to display the fact of following on from multiple options of a question, or worse still, from multiple broader questions? Just list them. Not ideal, but plausible.

The request for a new question should probably be given the option either to be named or anonymous.

Commentary

This is one of the most challenging parts of the whole system. It may need a dialogue spread over several pages, including ones for creating as well as selecting a question. Doing well here is essential to the overall health of the System, as all operations are helped by people finding adequate existing questions rather than writing their own close one.

I was thinking of linking here to question construction. But on reflection, It makes more sense simply to make a request for a new question.
