When two enquiries correspond, it just means that they fit.

This term originated in the original acronym, CHOICE, but we're now using the term fit instead as it seems slightly easier to understand.

The issue is that correspondence is also the term given to exchange of letters, in the sense that each party responds to the other. Whereas in CHOICE, the term correspondence is intended to mean that all the required questions from one party have suitable, corresponding, answers that fit. If the term “matching” is used, it is vital to remember that the fit is not necessarily by similarity.
