P2P stands for “Peer to Peer”, and Michel Bauwens in particular has emphasised that he takes it in two complementary ways: P2P in technology means that all of a set of communicating machines have the same rank, that there is no one hub or prime source.

P2P in human terms, similarly, refers to non-hierarchical relationships between people as peers.
